Rich Embury was the owner and man behind the mask at Pure Rock Radio (PRR was on-air for 25 Years: May 1st, 1996 to July 1st, 2021), and is the host/presenter of the live, internationally syndicated radio shows (and podcasts) Rich Embury’s R3TROGRAD3 + Rich Embury’s Power Hour! His live radio shows are heard on over 40 international internet and FM stations around the globe, with the podcast versions of his shows now reaching well over 50,000 listens and downloads per episode/show/week on combined podcast sites and apps. Rich’s shows chart regularly top 100 & top 50 in many countries around the globe!
Rich has a long history in radio. Beginning in the 1980s with his high school show on MRCR (Mount Royal Collegiate Radio), he broke the mold and long restrictions against playing heavy metal on the air. Fast forward to the mid-1990s with the weekly CFCR 90.5FM show in Saskatoon, focusing on local music. He created his own internet radio station (originally Radio306.com (Nominated for a Prairie Music award) to Pure Rock Radio), at a time when it was much more difficult and super rare to have an internet station, many years before terrestrial AM/FM and satellite stations put their radio feeds online. Long before iPhones and smartphones.
Rich was a board member of S.O.M.A. (Saskatchewan Original Music Assoc.) and broadcast coordinator, which is where his love for supporting independent, local, and struggling bands took hold. The roots of Pure Rock Radio celebrate indie bands, mixed with better-known, major-label artists. His current radio show Rich Embury’s R3TROGRAD3 continues the tradition.
Rich Embury’s R3TROGRAD3 is a long-running, professional, high-energy, weekly live radio show that plays “Everything that rocks” and celebrated 25 years on air July 1st, 2024!! It features New and upcoming Hard/Active Rock and Heavy Metal releases, Classic rock of the ’70s and ’80s, Hair and Glam Rock of the ’80s and early ’90s, Grunge and Nu Metal of the ’90s and ’00s, with hard rock/metal of all types and styles from yesterday to today! If it rocks heavily…it fits!! The show features music history and facts, plus regular segments like “Take Cover💥” (a live & interactive cover song game) and much more. It’s a 3-hour thrill ride!!
